Same Day Dental Crowns

Charlottesville, VA

CEREC in Charlottesville, VA

The placement of a custom dental crown doesn’t have to require two visits to the dentist. Dr. Harrison can repair a damaged tooth or improve the appearance of your smile with a same-day dental crown in our Charlottesville office.

We use state of the art CEREC technology for the most natural and durable dental restorations. CEREC CAD/CAM technology provides patients with highly accurate and quick results in just one visit to our local dentist office.

What is CEREC?

CEREC is a CAD/CAM technology that enables Dr. Harrison to design, mill, and place a high quality ceramic crown while you wait, or during a single visit. CEREC uses digital imagery taken chair side with a comfortable hand-held scanner. Uploaded to unique software, these images can be used to design a custom fitted dental crown.

You will actually be able to see a 3D image of the final restoration on screen before it is made. Once completed, the digital design specifications are transmitted to an in-office milling machine that creates a new crown in under 30 minutes.

A same-day dental crown is not only convenient, but it can also quickly restore a stable bite after damage or decay. The crowns we fabricate in office are created from quality materials. Your crown will be highly durable and aesthetically pleasing. Dr. Harrison can give you back a healthy smile with CEREC in one dental office visit.

Am I a Candidate for a Same Day Crown?

A same-day dental crown is considered a treatment option in most cases unless there other complex issues related to your oral health that may benefit from a traditional crown. Dr. Harrison will work with you to educate you on all possible treatment options and expected outcomes.

Is CEREC Process Painful?

The process for placing a dental crown, both traditional and CEREC does require that a portion of the affected tooth is removed. We use a local anesthetic to numb the area to ensure that you are comfortable while the tooth is prepared. The CEREC process uses digital impressions which are convenient and comfortable. The placement of the final crown is performed while the tooth is still numb and does not cause additional discomfort.

One of the key benefits of a CEREC crown is that you do not have to be numbed twice, which is often necessary when placing a traditional crown for both tooth preparation and placement.

Are Same Day Crowns Covered By Dental Insurance?

Your dental insurance may cover a portion of the total cost for a same-day crown. Our front desk will work with you to determine your benefits and provide cost information for your consideration.

How Long Does A CEREC Crown Last?

A crown made using CEREC is designed to last for 10 years and longer with good oral hygiene and regular dental care. They are made using quality materials and designed for a precise fit.
