I have a Knocked-Out Tooth…What Should I Do?

If you experience a knocked-out tooth, try to recover the tooth as soon as possible. Pick it up by the crown, avoiding touching the tooth roots. If you can, place the tooth gently back into its original socket and then make your way to the dentist’s office. If you cannot get the tooth back into its original socket,  place the tooth in a glass of milk to keep it moist while you make your way to the dentist’s office.

Why Do I Have a Toothache?

Toothaches can be caused by a variety of issues. Facial trauma can cause toothaches. If you’ve experienced recent facial trauma, you may have a cracked or chipped tooth that needs immediate restorative care. Additionally, tooth decay can cause toothaches.

If it has been a while since your last dental cleaning, it is likely that you have a cavity that has caused significant damage to your tooth enamel, resulting in increased sensitivity. Regardless of the reason for your toothache, any unexplained or unanticipated tooth pain should be reported to the dentist as soon as possible.

My Gum Are Bleeding…Is This a Dental Emergency?

If you notice your gums are bleeding when you brush or floss your teeth, this isn’t necessarily a dental emergency. This is likely gingivitis or early-stage gum disease. You should call your dentist and request a dental cleaning appointment to help prevent further inflammation of your gums.

However, if your soft tissues begin to bleed for no reason or if you have recently had a dental procedure and the incision sites have started to bleed, please call our office immediately. This is a dental emergency, and should be looked at by a professional dentist as soon as possible.
